A key Maryland state senator says she won't support legislation to allow direct shipping in Maryland, which will kill the bill. And why is that? Because, as the Baltimore Sun noted, all state 188 lawmakers and Gov. Martin O'Malley are up for election this fall -- and and more than 80 percent of state legislators have received campaign contributions from the liquor lobby that opposes direct shipping.
